Andréa homoya
Andréa Homoya is an Indianapolis-based author of upmarket, contemporary rom-coms. She believes writing is a practice in empathy, that the distance between who we are and who we want to be is where life really happens, and that hopeful books are an act of resistance.
She is currently querying her debut novel, CIDER SEASON, which follows a passionate and determined cidermaker who is forced to work with a finance bro with the palate of a toddler to keep her struggling cider company from going down the drain.
Andréa’s decade of experience owning and operating Ash & Elm Cider Co., one of the largest and fastest-growing cideries in the United States, truly sets her story apart. From the blurred lines of being an owner who employs her friends to the tough decisions between commerce and craft and the intricate behind-the-scenes details of sanitizing triclamps and orchard Frankentrees, CIDER SEASON is brimming with impossible-to-replicate authenticity.
Andréa’s experience growing up in Tanzania and Singapore before moving to Indianapolis in middle school taught her that people want the same things no matter where they’re from: to love and be loved, to understand and be understood, and to do good work.
Andréa holds a Bachelor’s in English Writing from Eastern University. After teaching high school English for your years, she left one highly regulated industry (education) for another (alcohol), with a stop at third (health care) in between.
When she isn’t working or writing, you can find her begging her two rambunctious boys to please stop yelling so loud in public places or getting commiseration coffees with one of her many friends in the local food & beverage community in Indianapolis.
